EVARÉ

Privacy notice

For the Evaré free beta. Last updated 17 October 2026.

Who is responsible

Evaré, an independent business based in Northern Ireland, United Kingdom is the controller of your personal information for the Evaré beta. Contact: hello.evare@supportevare.com. Last updated 17 October 2026.

What we hold

Your email address and password (stored only in scrambled form), your confirmation that you are 18 or over (or, if you are 16 or 17, the month and year you were born, so we know when your account becomes a full account), when you accepted the terms, your display name and optional profile photo, the vaults you create or join, and everything you add: photos, videos, voice notes, writing, letters, time capsules, comments and hearts. Also invitations, private drafts, the devices you sign in on (for security), support messages, export and deletion requests, and Shop designs you save.

Why we use it

To provide Evaré to you (our contract with you): your account, storing your memories and showing them only to the people you choose. To keep the service secure and prevent misuse (our legitimate interests). To learn what to improve from the beta, using feedback you choose to give, overall counts of how the app is used (for example, how many memories are added each week, never what they contain), and crash reports when something goes wrong. We do not use your memories for advertising, sell your information, or use it to train AI.

Who can see it

People you invite see what is shared in that vault, according to its permissions. Our service providers handle information only to run Evaré: Supabase (database and file storage, hosted in London, UK), Google (sending our emails), Apple (TestFlight and the App Store, which deliver the iPhone app), Google (Google Play, which delivers the Android app), Sentry (crash reports, which include technical details of the error and your phone model, never your memories) and Expo (builds the app; notifications are not switched on). Some providers are based outside the UK. Where they can access information from abroad, we rely on recognised safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum.

How long we keep it

For as long as your account exists. Deleted memories stay in Recently Deleted for 30 days. Account deletion completes after a 30-day scheduled stage. Backups are kept for 7 days, so deleted information can remain in a backup for up to a week. If the beta ends, we will tell you at least 30 days beforehand so you can export.

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct, export or delete your information, or object to or restrict how it is used. Much of this you can do yourself in the app (Account → Export, Delete account). For anything else, email hello.evare@supportevare.com; we will reply within one month. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).

Children and other people

Accounts are for people aged 16 and over. Accounts for 16 and 17 year olds have extra protections: they can only take part in vaults they are invited to, cannot own a vault or invite others, and cannot download original files. We do not use anyone’s information for advertising. Memories often include children and other people, so please share them thoughtfully and only with people they would be comfortable seeing them.

If you’re 16 or 17

In short: you can join your family’s vaults when someone invites you, look through them and add your own memories. We only ask the month and year you were born, so we know when your account becomes a full one at 18. Until then you can’t create your own vault, invite people or download original files, and the location your phone saves inside your photos and videos is removed. Only the people in a vault can see what’s in it. Nobody else can find you on Evaré, and we never use your information for adverts. If anything in a vault worries you, tap “Report this memory”, write to us, or leave the vault from its settings at any time.

Security

Before a video leaves your phone, we remove the location your phone saved inside it (photos people see in a vault are copies without it too). Information is encrypted in transit, private vaults are protected by access rules on our servers, and you can add an App Lock on your phone. No system is perfect: tell us at once if you notice anything wrong.
